There are many reasons that I choose to support the incredible work happening with Young Caring for Our Young initiatives. For me, the work is personal. Many people would not know that my family struggled when I was young. We had the benefit of having extended family to help with meals – Sunday dinner with grandma – and clothing – plenty of “hand me downs” from cousins. Over time, this help was not needed and my parents were able to support our family without the added resources from grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. There are many families who don’t have the support and access to resources as what was available to my parents. These families want the best for their children and having the additional support from meals to clothing to resources for teens makes all the difference. In my time with the board, this work has impacted a wide range of families. I am passionate about supporting the needs of children and am proud to be a member of the board.
